# Till (point of sale) for PrestaShop

One Shop Manager turns the computer into a store till connected to the PrestaShop shop: items are scanned or tapped on screen, the total is calculated by the shop, and every checkout creates a real PrestaShop order, with stock decremented. The website and the store sell from the same stock, and counter sales show up in the orders and the reports, next to those of the website.

## Selling at the counter

- **Scan or search**: barcode scanner (EAN13 then Enter), or search by name or reference; an item scanned again moves to the next quantity.
- **Touchscreen**: the last items sold and the latest products in the catalog are displayed as large tiles, with photo and price.
- **Customer**: "Counter sale" by default, or a customer of the shop found by name or email.
- **Discounts**: per line or on the whole cart, as a percentage or in euros.
- **Total calculated by the shop**: prices, VAT and discounts are those of PrestaShop, not an estimate made by the computer.

## Taking payment

| Step | Detail |
|---|---|
| Payment methods | Cash, bank card, check or any other label, each linked to a payment method of the shop |
| Multiple payments | Several methods on the same sale, remaining amount due displayed |
| Cash | Amount received entered, change given calculated |
| Order | Created in PrestaShop on validation, with the chosen status, stock decremented |
| Network outage | A sale resent after an outage is never created twice |

## Receipts

- **Receipt** displayed after checkout: printed on the computer's printer (72 mm wide, the format of receipt printers) or sent to the customer by email.
- **Contents**: items, discounts, total incl. VAT, VAT per rate, payments and change given; free-form header (company name, address, SIRET, VAT number) and receipt footer.
- PrestaShop **invoice** as a PDF on request.
- Numbered **duplicate**, recorded in the journal.
- **Cancellation**: a cancellation receipt is issued, the order moves to the cancellation status and the stock is returned. The computer password is requested.

## Unalterable till journal

The till journal is designed to meet the four conditions of the French law against VAT fraud (article 286, I, 3° bis of the French General Tax Code, CGI): unalterability (inaltérabilité), security (sécurisation), retention (conservation) and archiving (archivage).

| Condition | In One Shop Manager |
|---|---|
| Unalterability (inaltérabilité) | Append-only entries, chained to one another and signed by a key specific to the computer, kept in the system keychain; a sale is corrected by a cancellation receipt, never by editing |
| Security (sécurisation) | Receipts numbered without gaps, perpetual grand total carried into every receipt and every closing, automatic daily, monthly and annual closings, technical event log |
| Retention (conservation) | Copy of the journal sent to the shop, in addition to the one on the computer |
| Archiving (archivage) | Signed archives exported for the chosen period, integrity check of the journal in one click |

Taking over from another till: numbering continues from the next number of the old till. The takeover is done only once, before the first receipt, and it is recorded in the journal.

## Locking and codes

- In till mode, the application is locked on the till screen: the salesperson has access to neither the catalog nor the settings.
- **4-digit code** to unlock the till; the current cart is kept while it is locked.
- **Computer password** to return to administration and to cancel a sale; it is also requested when the application starts.
- Forgotten codes: the license key erases them.

## Getting started

1. **Module**: update psmanager (0.30.0 or later) and sync the orders, to receive the shop's payment methods.
2. **System › Security**: set the computer password.
3. **System › Till**: 4-digit code, payment methods, statuses for a sale and for a cancellation, "Counter sale" customer (created in one click), receipt header, end of fiscal year.
4. **"Switch to till"** in the menu or from the dashboard.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does the till work without an Internet connection?
No. Every checkout creates the order in the shop, which calculates the total and decrements the stock: the connection is required to take payment. If it drops during validation, the resent sale is never created twice.

### Do you need special hardware?
No. A USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner that types the code then Enter and a printer installed on the computer are enough. On a touchscreen, items are chosen from large tiles. The card terminal remains independent: the till records the payment method, it does not drive the terminal.

### Is the website's stock updated after an in-store sale?
Yes, right away: the sale is a PrestaShop order, and it is the shop that decrements the stock. A cancellation returns it.

### Can a receipt be edited or deleted?
No, that is the principle of an unalterable journal. A mistake is corrected by a cancellation receipt, then by a new sale.

### Can you have several tills?
Yes. Each computer is a till, with its own numbering and its own journal; the license covers 3 computers.

### Is the till included in the license?
Yes, like all features: no paid module and no extra subscription.
