What is an MCP server for PrestaShop?

Updated October 14, 2026 · by Romain Montagne

An MCP server for PrestaShop is a program that gives Claude, or another MCP-compatible client, tools to read and change a PrestaShop shop: search products, read orders, prepare a price change.

What is MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard for connecting an AI to software. The server describes its tools, and the AI client (Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex…) calls them when a question needs them.

What should a good PrestaShop MCP server do?

  • Read without slowing down the site: answer from a copy of the data rather than querying the live shop for every question.
  • Write nothing without approval: the AI prepares, a person checks and applies.
  • Never expose passwords of the shop or the server to the AI.
  • Keep a record and allow undo for every change.

What does the One Shop Manager MCP server contain?

The one-shop-manager server exposes 44 tools (version 0.4.56, full list in docs/tools.md). It runs inside the One Shop Manager software, which copies the shop to the computer.

Family Example tools What they do
Shop shop_info, list_languages Open shop, languages
Catalog search_products, get_product, list_combinations Products, texts per language, categories, attributes and combinations
Customers and orders search_customers, list_orders, get_order Customer details, orders with gross margin
Analysis sales_report, stock_report, restock, seo_report Sales, stock valuation, restock, SEO audit, tables
Accounting accounting_summary, accounting_order Summary with VAT by country and rate, entries for one order
Journal list_journal, list_proposals Past operations, status of proposals
Catalog proposals propose_price_change, propose_texts, propose_product_create Prices, fields, texts and SEO, categories, product creation (disabled)
Combination proposals propose_combinations_create, propose_combination_stock Attributes, values, combinations, stock
Order proposals propose_order_state, propose_order_tracking Statuses, tracking numbers, new order
Undo propose_undo Undo an operation from the journal

The propose_* tools write nothing to the shop: they compute the change and file it as a proposal in the AI log. You open the before/after preview, then click Apply. Read-only mode hides every proposal tool from the AI.

What security guarantees?

  • Access disabled by default, turned on in the software settings; "Test access" checks the connection.
  • Local server: it only listens on the computer (127.0.0.1), and every request needs an access key. "New token" revokes the current key.
  • Credentials out of reach: the shop keys and passwords stay in the system keychain.
  • Limited data: only the data needed for the question goes to the AI provider; with your own Claude, it goes directly to Anthropic.
  • Undo: everything can be undone from the journal, except an order created by the AI.

Details in docs/security.md.

How do you install it, client by client?

First turn on access: in One Shop Manager, AI › AI settings, card AI access (MCP), check "Enable AI access", then click "Test access". The software must stay open on the shop.

Claude Desktop

Quit Claude Desktop completely, click "Connect Claude Desktop", then reopen Claude. Alternatively, install the prestashop-mcp.mcpb extension published on GitHub, which asks for the access key and the port.

Claude Code

Copy the command shown by the software and run it in a terminal, once per computer:

claude mcp add --scope user --transport http one-shop-manager http://127.0.0.1:47715/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer <ACCESS_KEY>"

In Claude Code, /mcp shows one-shop-manager as connected. It also works in the VS Code extension.

ChatGPT desktop app and Codex

Choose ChatGPT (Codex) and click "Connect ChatGPT and Codex". In the ChatGPT app, then install the One Shop Manager plugin once from Plugins; restart Codex. ChatGPT in the browser cannot reach a local server.

Cursor and other MCP clients

Add the block given by the software to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "one-shop-manager": {
      "url": "http://127.0.0.1:47715/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer <ACCESS_KEY>" }
    }
  }
}

Other clients connect the same way (HTTP), or over stdio with the software executable. The software shows the real key and port.

Where can you find it?

  • Official MCP registry: io.github.oneshopmanager/prestashop-mcp.
  • GitHub repository: oneshopmanager/prestashop-mcp, with documentation for each client and the Claude Desktop extension.

What can you ask it?

  • "Which products in stock have not sold in the last 90 days?"
  • "Lower the price of these products by 15%, rounded to .90, without going under a 25% margin."
  • "Write the missing meta descriptions for the Shoes category, in French and English."
  • "Add the S, M, L and XL combinations to this sweatshirt."
  • "Which paid orders have not shipped yet?"
  • "VAT collected by country in the third quarter?"

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to install a module on the shop?

Yes. A small PrestaShop module bridges One Shop Manager and the shop webservice. The MCP server itself runs on your computer.

Does the server work without the software?

No. The MCP server is part of One Shop Manager: the software must stay open on the shop for the AI to reach it.

Which PrestaShop versions?

PrestaShop 1.6, 1.7, 8 and 9, on macOS 11+ and Windows 10+.

Is the MCP server paid?

It is included in One Shop Manager at no extra cost: you use your own Claude or ChatGPT subscription. The software price is on the Pricing page.
