Synchronization and offline work

One Shop Manager works on a local copy of the shop. The first time a shop is opened, everything is copied; after that, only the differences are reread, thanks to the change log kept by the psmanager module. Writes (bulk edits, statuses, stock) go to the shop immediately, or wait in the send queue when the connection is down.

What is copied

  • Catalog: products, combinations (with their purchase price, module 0.29.0 or later), categories, texts, referenced images.
  • Sales: orders, order lines, customers, statuses, carriers, groups.

When synchronization happens

When What happens
First time a shop is opened Full copy of the catalog, then of the sales
Every time it is opened Incremental sync of the catalog, then of the sales, in the background
Every 15 minutes, with the shop open Same sync, except when offline
"Sync" button on the dashboard Immediate incremental sync
"Full resync" button Complete rebuild of the local cache

The dashboard shows the date of the last sync of the catalog and of the sales, and displays "Data needs refreshing" when it exceeds the delay chosen in Settings.

When to run "Full resync"

  • After a module update that brings new data (for example the purchase price of combinations in 0.29.0).
  • After restoring a backup or a massive import done outside the app.
  • If figures seem inconsistent with the back office.

Offline

The app opens on the local data, even without a connection. Changes accumulate in the Send queue (System section of the sidebar, whose title shows "Offline" or the number of pending operations) and go to the shop when the network returns. A line changed on the shop in the meantime comes back as a conflict instead of overwriting the shop's version.
